Located a 45-minute ferry ride east of Bali, Nusa Penida is one of Indonesia’s most beautiful islands. Only opening up to tourism TWO years ago, it’s quickly becoming an Insta-famous day trip destination. The island boasts floury-white beaches tucked between cliffs and winding roads covered in lush carpets of green.
The most popular spots on the island include Kelingking Beach (often referred to as the “Sea Swing” for its scenic backdrop), Broken Beach, and Angel’s Billabong, an incredible formation made up of natural pools that look like the famous cenotes in Mexico.
It’s important to note that many of the places mentioned above require a fair amount of physical exertion, and are not suitable for those who don’t have a high level of fitness. The trails to reach these destinations typically involve navigating hundreds (if not thousands) of stairs, which can be quite challenging for those who aren’t very fit. If you’re looking for a more relaxing experience, we recommend booking an excursion that includes a car and driver to visit the key locations on the island safely.
Unlike Bali, the majority of places on Nusa Penida are very secluded and away from the main road. However, there are still a few notable spots that deserve a visit for their sheer beauty. For example, the secluded Kelingking Beach has a trail leading to the bottom of cliffs where manta rays gather to feed. The natural pool at Tembeling Beach is also stunning, with turquoise water tucked in a lush forest.nusa penida private boat tour
